They say that necessity is the mother of creativity, and that was precisely what inspired the creation of the Viga Bench. At the end of 2023, after the completion of an office expansion project, new work and meeting spaces were opened. Part of the remaining wooden beams became the ideal raw material for the furniture in the new patio, which required comfortable benches for resting after lunch. During the post-construction cleaning, the dimensions of the wooden pieces were carefully measured. Then, the design sketch for the bench began, considering intentions, needs and desires, always focusing on the basic guidelines of ergonomics and comfort. In an afternoon that went into the night, the first piece was built. The challenge was to create a robust piece of furniture using fittings and locks, minimizing the use of screws; a total of 3 were used. Even without the most suitable tools, the dedication resulted in a functional piece, which served as motivation for the immediate production of a second unit. In partnership with a local carpentry shop, one of the benches was sent to the workshop. With precision and quality, the partner reproduced the design in a more noble wood, giving the piece an exceptional finish.
