Riccó

São Paulo

The challenge of this project was to design a new facade for an existing building on a busy avenue, one that would enhance visibility and convey attributes associated with a century-old corporate furniture brand. On a corner lot, Riccó would establish itself by repositioning its most important concepts, such as tradition and precision in its production. After several studies of materials and volumetrics, we opted for a metal envelope reminiscent of origami and inspired by the Miura-Ori model, created by Japanese astrophysicist Koryo Miura. Approximately 600 pieces of composite aluminum sheets were used, processed in Riccó's own factory structure. To facilitate the execution, a large support grid was created that could be repeated several times, covering the entire surface. Throughout the façade – its front measuring 33 meters – only two shapes were used: diamonds and triangles, which can be in different colors (gray and white), perforated, or flat. At 70 cm deep, the display window serves as a showcase for Riccó's various furniture lines. The display window spans two sides of the building, on both corners, and connects at the store's entrance, becoming a single unit.
