Ambev Poli
São Paulo
The Ambev On project was born from a partnership between Ambev and Poli (the Polytechnic School of USP), with the goal of bringing students closer to the job market through research and investigation on topics such as innovation and entrepreneurship.
The theme is very pertinent because we have long noticed that office projects are increasingly similar to universities themselves, places of exchange and collaboration. This time, the challenge was to bring the best of the corporate environment to the university environment.
The project consists of retrofitting an area of 400m2, located in one of Poli's original buildings.
A large part of the actions were aimed at restoring and enhancing the building's architecture, valuing its history and environmental comfort techniques. The openings, which had been closed over the course of numerous alterations, had their spans enlarged with the aim of improving the quality of the spaces' lighting and ventilation, in addition to establishing a connection with the external areas of the campus, bringing the pleasant and green landscape into the space. The acoustic issue also received special attention and treatment in the project to ensure comfort and quality in the use of the spaces.
To meet the various demands of the program, dynamic and flexible spaces were created that allow for different configuration possibilities, such as smaller rooms for internal brainstorming meetings, booths for quick informal meetings, individual phone booths and an auditorium.
One of the highlights of the project, considering this demand, was the creation of a motorized mobile grandstand, which moves along a track, allowing the configuration of a larger or smaller area of use, depending on the need (which can vary from 30 to 50 people).
Depending on its size, this area can function as an auditorium, or as a space for work, presentations and events. In addition, the space under the grandstand was optimized and used for the installation of phone booths.
In developing the project, the choice was to keep some constructed elements, their techniques and materials used visible, so that the space itself would inspire and teach the students who will attend it. The side of the grandstand received a transparent element that allows the visualization of its internal functioning structure. The drywall walls were developed in transparent polycarbonate so that its structure was visible, exposing the way in which it was designed and executed.
