Appito

São Paulo

Appito Arena is the first physical environment of Appito, a virtual platform created to connect amateur players and soccer fans. The challenge of the project, created by Superlimão, was to bring all the cutting-edge technology available in the world of professional soccer to the real world, making the experience even more complete. Professional infrastructure is offered, with two official indoor soccer pitches and four locker rooms, as well as other programs to serve not only the players but also fans, family, and friends who are not attending the game. A video game area for those waiting right at the entrance, a bar with a full kitchen, a room for parties and events, and a highlight are the fully equipped kiosks with barbecue grills and TVs, allowing groups to gather in comfort and privacy. The project's identity focused on the basic elements of the soccer universe, such as the goalpost and the panels of the ball, as inspiration for the geometry of the structures, combined with the colors and neon lights of the digital world. Sustainability was a key design principle, and passive techniques were used to minimize energy consumption and create healthier environments. Aiming to control the temperature inside the metal modules without the aid of active systems such as air conditioning, permanent cross-ventilation was created through the geometry of the assembly, with the mismatch of the insulating panel seals with the masonry base. This system operates through a connection even on windless days, ensuring not only a more pleasant but also a healthier environment for its users. This same geometric design, which allows air circulation, prevents rainwater from entering. The use of this material in the module enclosures also prevents the thermal effects of solar radiation. The portico's shape also directed natural light into the complex and allowed tasks to be performed during the day without the aid of artificial lighting. The white color of the interior cladding reflects sunlight through the light tray, subsequently providing diffused lighting throughout the interior. Nighttime neon and LED lighting enhances the user experience, creating a playful setting reminiscent of the digital world and connected with the colors of various soccer teams. Permanent cross-ventilation not only controls the temperature of the environment but also uses non-mechanized natural resources. Performing tasks with diffuse natural lighting also has its benefits and is encouraged within the project programs. The design strategy of creating components in series and organizing them in different spans and angles provides spatial and architectural possibilities for the construction. The agility of manufacturing and assembly are also notable factors. The parts are fastened with screws, facilitating labor. The simplicity of the construction site with this construction system is also a point of emphasis, optimizing logistics and space requirements. The modular gantries and the seals of the typologies work with metric coordinates already available in the industry, thus minimizing scrap and waste. The project's visual identity reinforces the increasingly frequent interaction between the physical and digital worlds, and the program allows users to interact with a professional soccer facility, a popular sport and an important part of Brazilian culture. The complex's geometry reinforces the use of natural and renewable solutions for thermal and lighting comfort.
