RF Apartment

A 160 m² apartment from the 1950s on Paulista Avenue, with a lot of history and clients willing to show all the signs of time. The Superlimão project in the property of the classic Saint Honoré building, by Artacho Jurado, was occupied by a couple who were involved in art, architecture and photography and wanted an apartment to host friends for dinners and get-togethers. With the change in lifestyle priorities from the 1950s to today, the service passage between the kitchen and the main entrance no longer made sense for the family's current use. The decision was made to demolish the entire hallway, expanding the living room and unifying the kitchen and service area, transforming all spaces into social areas. The service bathroom became the lavatory and the pantry became one of the children's bathrooms. Since it is an old apartment, the windows are generous all around the perimeter of the apartment. The view from the living room and bedrooms is Paulista Avenue and the windows in the kitchen and service area allow for cross ventilation. We sought to maintain as much of the existing finishes as possible to enhance the history of the place. In the living room, the walls were sanded down to the structures; in the bedroom/office, the walls were stripped down to the brickwork; the original parquet flooring was maintained throughout the living room and bedrooms. Tones chosen for the color palette were those that reflect the building's construction period and the project by Artacho Jurado. The ceiling is burnt pink with rustic walls and the entire kitchen is in shades of blue with terrazzo floors and pigmented concrete countertops. For the interiors, the first option was to look for Brazilian furniture, such as the Lúcio chair and the Diz armchair by Sergio Rodrigues.
