SubAstor
São Paulo
The bar below the Astor bar, SubAstor, in São Paulo (Brazil), has just undergone renovations and gained a more cosmopolitan feel with the Superlimão project.
The door, when closed, is camouflaged, giving visitors the feeling of being truly immersed in the world of cocktails. The bottles on the shelf have been replaced by small glass bottles that form a stylized map of São Paulo, which only the most observant can notice.
It is impossible not to notice that these same bottles, reflected in two large parallel mirrors on the sides of the sofa, create an infinite and mesmerizing panel. In addition, the room now has lighter chairs, stools and armchairs that increase the space between the furniture, allowing for better circulation, and communal tables that increase interaction between visitors.
The ceiling was made with crushed metal mesh planes that create an unusual volume that plays with light and shadow. The lighting design, in turn, now consists of several "Moscow Eye" lamps that illuminate the table area, while people can chat in the shadows.
The SubAstor dining room has a planter that allows for the control of humidity, lighting and ventilation of different species of plants and herbs. Measuring 3.34 meters long, 68 cm high and 50 cm deep, the "mini laboratory" has seedlings brought from all over the country to be used in the house's cocktails and dishes.
